"From vines located around Calon-Segur, alas much of the vineyard was damaged by May. A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has a rounded, plum and blackberry-scented nose with just a touch of boysenberry jam. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite masculine, good acidity with a robust, earthy finish. Drink 2012-2020."

"(13.5% alcohol)) Full medium ruby. Cassis, licorice and tobacco leaf on the nose, along with a menthol nuance. Fresh, suave and fine-grained, with bright flavors of cassis, cedar, licorice and brushy herbs. Not especially complex but nicely pliant for Saint-Estephe, with lively acids extending the flavors on the moderately long finish. A good example of the type of wine Bordeaux can do so well: not a blockbuster—in fact almost light—yet balanced, fresh and spectacular with food."
