"Tasted at Tertre-Roteboeuf. Ripe brambly black fruit on the nose, very well defined with crushed stone, a touch of blackberry, briary and a hint of black olive. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine, tensile tannins, a tangible sense of tension in this Roc de Combes, an almost saline note towards the finish that is very well defined, showing just a little hardness at the moment, though that will soften by the time of bottling. Tasted March 2010."

"(70% merlot, 25% cabernet sauvignon and 5% malbec) Medium-deep ruby-red. Sexy red-berry cocktail aromas of raspberry and strawberry spiked by cinnamon. Creamy-smooth on entry, boasting extremely sweet and impressively intense red berry and red cherry flavors. Finishes long, with the slightest hint of youthfully aggressive tannins. I found a strong family resemblance between this wine and Fran c ois Mitjavile's far more expensive "other" wine, Chateau Tertre R o teboeuf, which costs a whole lot more. Roc de Cambes does not have that wine's sheer intensity, but it's not so far behind in quality."
