"One of the strongest efforts from Rauzan-Gassies in many years, the 2010 may turn out to be a sleeper of the vintage. It reveals an opaque purple color along with notes of incense, licorice, black currants and blackberries, impressive concentration, soft tannins and good acidity. This is a solidly made, full throttle Margaux to cellar for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 25 years."

"Tasted three times, a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot, the Rauzan-Gassies has a very fine bouquet with good purity and terroir expression. There is just a touch of greenness, but there is an attractive floral perfume. The palate is medium-bodied with good tension and acidity, a little light on the finish but I like the focus and the mineralité that has not been seen for a long time. I look forward to re-tasting this in bottle."

"Good red-ruby color. Blackberry, bitter chocolate, licorice and violet on the aromatic nose, plus a high-toned whiff of band-aid. Then dense but dry in the mouth, with blackberry and redcurrant fruit flavors showing a faint leathery, animal character. There's good ripeness in the mid-palate but the slightly drying tannins give the finish an edgy quality."

"Inky dark purple in colour, spiced nose of vanilla pods and black coffee. Silky in texture, and I like the restraint on the attack. Alcohol comes in mid palate, but paired with coffee beans and some bitter chocolate and damson. Real density of fruit and tannins, with an elegant edge. A classified 1855 growth that offers such excellent value is rare. Drink 2018-2035."
