"Deep ruby-purple. The nose is dominated by coffee and chocolate, with blackcurrant and blackberry jam in the deep background. Lighter on entry than some previous La Serre vintages, this one offers pretty black fruit flavors framed by silky tannins. Finishes moderately long. An enjoyable, easygoing version of La Serre-not at all a bad thing. Wine lovers looking for a good buy may want to look out for the 2003 La Serre, a real sleeper that is currently drinking beautifully, as the cooler clay soils protected it from the excessive heat of that vintage."
