The Wine Advocate

"Possibly the finest wine yet produced at this estate, the 2009 is even fatter, richer, and more unctuously textured than the 2005 (which I loved). It boasts an opaque purple color, thrilling levels of sweet creme de cassis and blackberries along with hints of underbrush as well as forest floor, silky tannins, full body, and a plush, heady, opulent personality. This stunning wine should drink well for two decades. (Tasted three times.)""Quelle: "The Wine Advocate", issue 188

"Black red, smoky and concentrated blackcurrant fruit, rich succulent fruit with a thick velvety texture and quite firm tannins. Drink 2015-25." Quelle: www.decanter.com

Jancis Robinson

"Drink 2016-2028; Unusually deep crimson. Very dark crimson. Sweet candy nose. Not very dense but certainly very sweet in a candy way. Then pretty austere tannins. Pretty dry end." Quelle: www.robinson.com

Jean-Marc Quarin

"My best rating ever given to this wine during futures campaigns. Showing a lovely, dark, intense color, this wine offers a fruity, precise, pure and slightly cold nose. Gorgeous on entry, it performs finely pulpy, and then develops aromatic, with taste, body presence and a creamy character that provides quite an enjoyable touch on the palate. The 2009 Grand Puy Ducasse finishes melting and long over fine tannins and with no shortage of power. It is very good indeed."© Copyright www.quarin.com, Jean-Marc Quarin (JMQ).

Wine Spectator

"A pretty nose of lead pencil and currant follows through to a full body, with well-integrated tannins and a silky, long finish. Stylish.-J.S."

Bettane & Desseauve

"A great wine showing all facets of the property and the vintage, in a classic and polished style that will please wine lovers: loads of cedar and tobacco, wonderful mouth feel, clean on the finish. By fas the best wine they have ever made, and a true Pauillac." Quelle: "TOP 2009 BORDEAUX RATINGS"

VINOUS

"Deep purple-ruby. Initially muted on the nose, opening slowly to reveal hints of fresh blackcurrant and smoky sassafras. Then much sweeter and juicy in the mouth, with superripe blackberry, blueberry and mineral flavors. Finishes with sneaky concentration and good length, with youthfully aggressive tannins. I would have scored this even higher except for a nagging worry about the fruit outlasting the tannins. Yet another example of a wine that should rank as one of the property's best ever."

Falstaff

"Beautifully opaque, almost black in colour. The nose is subtle and fairly subdued, but underneath very nice spice and tobacco fruit. Good weight of fruit, some very attractive integrated tannins, but for me there is a whack of alcohol again that should have been better tamed. 40% Merlot, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon" Quelee: www.newbordeaux.com
