It is irrefutably a full-bodied, powerful wine with relatively elevated levels of glycerin concealing some formidable tannins. I am sure the alcohol is higher than normal, probably close to 13%.“

„Contrary to rumors on some internet chat boards, this wine is not named after my colleague, Pierre-Antoine Rovani. A sleeper that one doesn’t see often in the marketplace because production is small, the 2003 St.-Pierre is a classic St.-Julien, although lower in acidity than other top years such as 1996. A deep saturated ruby/purple color is followed by classic scents of black currant liqueur, spice box, earth, and resin. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich with a layered, enticingly textured mouthfeel, with low acidity, outstanding concentration, and purity, it requires 2-4 years of cellaring, and will drink beautifully over the following 15+ years.“
