In beachtlicher Homogenität und Konsistenz präsentieren die Herren von Chateau Gazin den Pomerol, der das Kunststück fertig bringt, in der Mitte des Geschehens, dort, wo die Einstiegspomerols ihre Wirkmacht verlieren und die Legenden sich zu fein sind, Präsenz zu zeigen, ein Unikat zu sein. Wer es hier zum Solitär bringt, dem sollte die Aufmerksamkeit all derer, die mehr als den Mainstream suchen, sicher sein. Nicht umsonst ist der Gazin jahrein, jahraus der erste namhafte Pomerol,der sich aus der Deckung wagt.

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Gazin (composed of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc) has quite an earthy/broody nose to begin, with subtle black soil, tar and chargrill notes giving way to a core of prunes, baked blueberries and sautéed herbs. Full, muscular and chewy in the mouth, it has loads of earthy layers and a dried herbs lift on the finish."

"This feels like one of the better balanced St-Emilion 2018s, and they have worked extremely well with yields of 26hl/ha and relatively high alcohols. It´s deep ruby in colour, with well-extracted damson and black cherry fruits on the nose. There are intense fruits on the palate but they let light in between the tannins, and there´s an attractive lift that carries the palate upwards towards the finish. Clear coffee ground notes on the finish emphasise the barrel influence, and yet it all hangs together rather well. 60% new oak."

"lready offering its earthy truffle side, the fruits are soft, floral, polished, sweet, and plummy. Elegant and rich, this is a fine example of Gazin delivering a serious dose of cocoa dusted kirsch in a graceful finish. The wine is made from blending 93% Merlot with 7% Cabernet Franc."

"Couleur pourpre, sombre et belle. Nez d'intensité moyenne, au fruité mûr et frais. Notes d'épices et d'encre. Délicat à l'attaque, suave au développement, très fruité, le vin se développe parfumé et savoureux, avec beaucoup de goût et une puissance tannique bien enrobée. Beaucoup de charme. Belle longueur. Assemblage : 93 % merlot, 7 % cabernet franc. Degré d'alcool : 14°6 (moyenne plus) - pH : 3,65 (moyenne). IPT : 82 (moyenne). Rendement : 35 hl/ha. 2028 – 2045"

"The 2018 Gazin was impressive all three times I tasted it. Powerful and vibrant, with terrific persistence, the 2018 has more than enough supporting structure to balance the natural richness of the year. Grilled herbs, scorched earth, iron, licorice, mint and dried flowers give the red/purplish toned fruit a decidedly savory dimension that is hugely attractive. Some samples showed quite a bit of tannin, but the wine has more than enough breadth to develop beautifully during élevage and beyond. Tasted three times."
