"A blend of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Grand Corbin-Despagne is deep garnet-purple colored and features baked black cherries, mulberries and plum preserves with touches of rose hips, Marmite toast and fallen leaves. Full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, the voluptuous fruit is well framed by firm, rounded tannins and great freshness, finishing long."

"It´s good to see this back after frost stopped production in 2017. The inky colour and dark fruit aromas suggest low yields of great concentration - they were in fact 34hl/ha overall at this organic estate, although the vines for this grand vin were a little more generous. On the palate you get precision and freshness, with liquorice and rosemary notes along with plum and loganberry fruits. There´s some clear austerity through the mid-palate but it opens up to reveal juiciness on the finish. You can feel the texture of the fruit and the power and lift that comes from the ripe tannins. Extremely enjoyable, expertly handled and confident in its firm extraction. Low temperature vinification, no more than 28°C."

Black core with purple rim. Perfumed, lifted fresh dark fruit. Luscious aromas of pure blackcurrant and blueberry intensity. More sober on the palate but attractively so. Dark, rocky, savoury and dry in texture but leaves your mouth clean. Just a bit of heat on the finish."

"Couleur sombre, intense et belle. Nez moyennement intense, au fruité frais et mûr. Délicat en entrée de bouche, puis suave au développement, le vin caresse le palais sur un toucher fin. Il s'achève aromatique, sur une sensation tactile de pulpe et de fruits. C'est délicieux."

"The 2018 Grand Corbin-Despagne is a juicy, luscious wine with quite a bit of near and medium-term appeal. The ripe, forward style works well in this attractive, forward Saint-Émilion. Succulent dark cherry, tobacco, cedar, menthol and licorice all run through this racy, inviting Saint-Émilion. This is very nicely done. Tasted four times.

Pourpre violacé. Bouquet complexe, invitant, aux notes épicées, fruitées et rafraîchissantes. Avec un peu d’aération, je relève des effluves de craie et de cassis. Mise en bouche agréable, élégante. Le vin a du corps et des tannins denses, bien intégrés et aux grains très fins. Ils assurent bien les arrières et sont en parfaite harmonie avec la structure. Un vin de caractère, que l’on pourra certainement savourer dans sa jeunesse mais qui a le gabarit pour aller dans le temps. Une belle réussite !"
