"Irrégulier dans les derniers millésimes, Château Desmirail a produit un 2009 plus charnu et plein qu'à l'accoutumée. Partielement grêlé, le vignoble a produit un rendement de moins de 50ha/ha. Grâce à une politique de replantation du vignoble, la proportion de cabernet-sauvigon augmente, ils repésentent 70% de l'assemblage. Le nez est expressiv, sur des notes de fruits frais. "Sattes Purpur-Granat. Selten war ein Desmirail bei der Primeurverkostung derart fruchtig! Viel Brombeeren, leicht erdig darunter. "Tasted at a negociant. A very fragrant, natural nose from Desmirail that is well defined with good lift: pure black cherry, plum and a touch of cedar. A feminine bouquet. Not a powerful Margaux and perhaps the finish would benefit from more depth, but well balance with some attractive tobacco notes interwoven into the plush black fruit on the off-dry finish. "For me, one of the more over-extracted numbers here, although it does come into balance if you sit with it for long enough. This has 70% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot (there is now 2% of petit verdot in the vineyard, but it wont come into play until next year) They have upped the cabernet sauvignon quite significantly, and harvested it slowly over two weeks. 39 hl/h, fairly similar to 2008. 49 hl/h in 2005."
