"Smudgy crimson. Distinctive, slightly minty/eucalyptus nose. Almost New World in style and richer than many in this line up with a fine tang on the palate. Fine-grained, compact, balanced and more flesh than many of the Margaux 2008s tasted today."

"Bright medium ruby. Lightly roasted coffee bean, pepper and graphite aromas, complicated by ripe red cherry and sweet spices. Then quite tightly wound, even youthfully austere, on the palate, with a strong mineral quality and brisk acids framing the cassis and red cherry flavors. A well-balanced midweight with a firm tannic spine and good length. But this wine, always a long-distance runner rather than a flashy sprinter, needs to develop further flesh and structure to be outstanding."
