"The 2019 Clos Marsalette has a deep garnet-purple color, revealing notes of crushed red and black currants, candied violets and pencil shavings on the nose, followed by hints of garrigue, tilled soil and crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate is delicately played with loads of fragrant earth accents to the red and black fruit flavors, framed by grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing savory."

"A consistently successful Neipperg wine in Pessac, bringing some of his signature glamour to the Left Bank. This is a big shouldered wine, feels fairly high in alcohol and not one that you are going to ignore. I wonder if this style does better on the limestones of St Emilion where there is greater natural acidity as a counterbalance, but no question that this has plenty of texture and swagger."

"Black, red and blue fruit, smoke and spice create the nose. Medium-bodied, elegant, fresh and vibrant, with supple tannins, silky textures, freshness and polished sweet fruits in the finish. The wine was made from a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc."

"The 2019 Clos Marsalette is a muscular wine. A blast of dark cherry, plum, gravel. Smoke, licorice, spice and wild flowers make a strong opening statement. I especially admire how the 2019 builds over time. This is a decidedly virile style, though a measure of patience will likely be required."
