The Wine Advocate:

"The 2016 Bourgneuf from the Vayron family is a wine to watch, especially with the talented Frédérique Vayron in charge of winemaking duties. A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, it has an elegant, quite nuanced bouquet with blackberry and black truffle aromas, quintessential Pomerol in many ways. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that exert a gentle grip. The acidity is very well judged and there is impressive complexity interwoven into the long finish. What a superb Bourgneuf. This comes highly recommended as one of the best wines I have tasted from Trotanoy's next-door neighbor!"

René Gabriel's BDX Total:

"Samtenes, süsses Bouquet, Erdbeeren, Nougat, Tabak, rote Lakritze. Seidener, eleganter Gaumen mit feiner Frucht, feingliedriger Struktur, gutem Tannin, kräftiger Aromatik, langer, kräftiger Abgang mit süssen Rückaromen. Kann noch zulegen."

André Kunz 17/20 -  2022 bis 2038

Decanter Magazine:

"The Vayron family is in charge here, and straight off the nose you know you are in quality wine territory. This is extremely subdued, a little more than I expected, with ground coffee beans and crushed blackberries that open up to reveal a luscious quality to the fruit. Restrained power from the 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc blend. Drinking Window 2027 - 2050"

Wine Spectator:

"There´s a solid fleshy feel here, with plum and blackberry compote notes backed by a good dose of roasted apple wood and licorice root flavors. A little on the muscular side, but it’s a big ball of fruit and has the freshness of the vintage too.—J.M."

James Molesworth 90-93 Punkte

Jeff Leve:

"Medium bodied, sweet and tart, dark plums with bitter chocolate in the nose and on the palate, the wine finishes with plummy fruits and smooth textures. It was produced with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc."

Jean-Marc Quarin:

"Le meilleur jamais fait ! Couleur sombre, intense, pourpre. Nez fruité, frais, mûr avec des notes d’agrumes et de cacao. Vin délicieux qui caresse le palais avec un bel éclat fruité et un corps charnu comme jamais. Belle finale savoureuse. Un beau succès et un profil d’Outsider."

VINOUS/vormals Neal Martin:

"The 2016 Bourgneuf is a very pretty, hushed wine, with lovely purity and all of its elements in the right place. Soft, fine tannins and bright flavors add to an overall impression of finesse. Bourgneuf shows the more delicate side of Pomerol."

Antonio Galloni 88-91 Punkte

"The 2016 Bourgneuf is savory and lifted in its expression. Medium in body, gracious and light on its feet, the 2016 has a lot to offer. Grilled herbs, rose petal, mint and sweet red berry fruit are laced together in this super-expressive Pomerol. Tasted two times."

"The 2016 Bourgneuf needs a lot of coaxing from the glass, eventually offering blackberry, briar and light cedar aromas. The medium-bodied palate displays grainy tannins and gentle grip. There is plenty of freshness and vitality here, the 15% Cabernet Franc lending a little spice toward the persistent finish. This is one of the best Bourgneuf wines I have encountered in recent years. Yves Beck:

"85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc

Roger Voss:

"Barrel Sample. A dense wine with ripe tannins. The fruit is there, although buried in the firm structure. It's good for the long term."
