"The 2016 Fonroque is soft, easygoing and quite pretty, all of which will make it a good choice for drinking pretty much upon release. Succulent dark cherry and plum notes give the wine its juicy, fleshy personality. Hints of mocha, espresso, licorice and spice add layers of nuance, but this is a fruit-driven Saint-Émilion built for near- and medium-term pleasure. The only thing the 2016 lacks is a bit of persistence on the finish."

"The 2016 Fonroque is a very pretty, easygoing wine. Spice, leather, blood orange and menthol give the 2016 a decidedly exotic profile to play off its pliant, silky personality. The 2016 will benefit from time in bottle, which should allow the tannins to soften a bit further."

"The 2016 Fonroque has quite a heady, spirituous bouquet of macerated small black cherries, blueberry and crushed violets. The medium-bodied palate offers fleshy ripe black and red fruit laced with orange peel and cedar, building confidently in the mouth toward a precise finish. Alain Moueix’s Saint-Émilion impressed in barrel and just about delivers in bottle."
