„Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 10-Year On horizontal. The Lagrange ’01 is your quintessential Saint Julien wine with blackberry, cedar, cigar box and a touch of smoke. Very focused with great penetration. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, superb balanced with a superb cedar and tobacco tinged finish supported by ample red fruits. Great length, just a wine you want to drink (although it should keep for another decade.) „

„The 2002 is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 11% Petit Verdot Compared to the 2001 Lagrange the nose is a leafier and slight more herbaceous but it has very good definition, certainly “classic” in style but very agreeable. The palate is medium-bodied, very well balanced, less showy and high-toned than the 2002 but it has more style and harmony, very elegant and focused on the finish. This is a great 2001, very well-crafted. Excellent.“

„Much more elegant and less oaky on the nose that other wines in this Saint Julien flight, with a judicious touch of herbaceousness and a savoury quality becoming more evident with aeration. The palate has good fruit concentration and fine acidity, a little more opulent than the last wine with blackberry, blueberry, cedar and tobacco. Insistent finish. Good length. Just superb.“

"A deep ruby/purple color is followed by classic notes of black currants, cedar, tobacco leaf, and spice box. Displaying better integration of new oak as well as more elegance and finesse than usual (Lagrange tends to be blatantly oaky in many vintages), it possesses sweet fruit, pretty flavors, and a clean, supple-textured finish. Enjoy it over the next 12-14 years."
