The Wine Advocate

"Offering up aromas of cassis, blackberries, spices and creamy new oak, the 2021 Meyney is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with lively acids, powdery tannins and an impressively rich, textural profile for the vintage. It's a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot."

Decanter Magazine

"Gorgeous floral aromatics, this is crisp with the most delicious blackcurrant, black cherry and strawberry fruit flavour - really so well executed. Lively and bright, clean and clear. Succulent and juicy, lovely frame and texture overall. A wonderful, easy-to-drink wine, with elegance, refinement but still that concentration that drives the flavours from start to finish. A top buy for classic claret, refreshing, minty, deep, layered and so charming."

Jancis Robinson

"Cask sample. Excellent depth of flavour and ripeness. Sappy with no skinniness. Really no sign that this was a difficult vintage. Complete. Fresh with ripe tannins dominated by vibrant, ripe fruit. It even has some impressive persistence. It’s not super-ripe but is certainly ripe enough."

Jeff Leve

"Dark red fruits, tobacco, spearmint, espresso, currants, and cranberry on the nose. Forward, bright, medium-bodied, fresh, and savory with an herbal, spiced edge on the mid-palate and in the chewy, peppery finish. The wine is produced from a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 12% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2025-2040."

Jean-Marc Quarin

"Couleur sombre, soutenue et pourpre. Nez très aromatique, au fruité mûr. Bouche tendre, fruitée, agréable, savoureuse, construite, avec de la douceur en finale. Corps et longueur moyens."

"A pretty wine with currant, cherry and some spices, such as nutmeg. Subtle this year. Medium body."

Bettane & Desseauve

"Il faut aller déguster le vin à la barrique pour le retrouver pleinement avec son magnifique fruit et sa texture large et sensuelle. Grand rapport qualité-prix à prévoir, comme d’habitude."

VINOUS

"The 2021 Meyney is a deep, dense, fleshy wine. There is not a ton of complexity today, as the flavors are incredibly primary. Hints of cedar, tobacco and dried herbs start to emerge over time, but only with great reluctance. The 2021 could turn out to be quite good if it comes together a bit more during élevage. Tasted two times."

Antonio Galloni 89-91 Punkte

"The 2021 Meyney has a lovely bouquet with floral-tinged red berry fruit, opening nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh red berry fruit laced with oyster shell and spice. Fine build towards a menthol-tinged finish, winemaker Anne La Nour has conjured a very commendable SaintEstèphe from a tricky growing season. If release prices match your wallet, I'd stick a case (or two) in the cellar."

Falstaff

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte Kräuterwürze, dunkle Beeren, ein Hauch von Pflaumen, tabakige Nuancen. Saftig, kühle Frucht, Brombeeren, straffe Tannine, dunkles Nougat, mineralisch im Nachhall, hat Potenzial."

Anthocyanes

"Fruits frais, notes de florales, réglisse et graphite. De la densité, de beaux tanins avec un toucher de bouche charnu et frais. Très proche de son terroir. Frais et délicat."
