"Revealing a style similar to Pavie-Macquin, this backward, dense purple-colored St.-Emilion exhibits a liquid limestone-like character along with abundant floral notes, considerable depth yet a structured as well as tannic, backward, pure personality. It requires another 4-5 years of bottle age, and should last 15-20 years thereafter."

"A magical wine from this microscopic vineyard, Clos St. Martin's 2000 has freakish intensity and complexity. Even better than the great 1998, its saturated opaque blue/purple color is followed by a knock-out nose of blueberries, blackberries, and minerals, with subtle oak notes well-hidden by the wealth of fruit. Medium to full-bodied and rich, with high tannin but fabulous symmetry as well as overall presence, it will require patience. This is magnificent juice! One of the potential legends of 2000. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030."
