"The 2016 Lucia was cropped at 28hl/ha between October 6 and 12, and the consultant is Stéphane Derenoncourt. This has a generous, quite pure bouquet of black cherries, iodine and hints of wild mint. It takes a few moments just to settle down. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, and quite grippy and mineral-driven, especially toward the finish, where those old vines on limestone soil really dictate the classic style of this Saint-Émilion. Excellent."

"A rich, full-throttle wine, the 2016 Lucia is a total head-turner. I can't say the 2016 is especially subtle, but it packs tremendous punch. Super-ripe plum, pomegranate, blood orange, mint and espresso are framed by a good bit new oak. Readers should expect a full-throttle, extravagantly ripe Saint-Émilion. The 2016 has so much to offer."

"The 2016 Lucia, a full-throttle and unapologetically sumptuous Saint-Émilion, is a fabulous example of this style. Layers of succulent dark cherry, spice, espresso and mocha build into the rich, opulent finish. Readers should expect a big wine built on ripeness and breadth. Made with 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, aged in 40% new oak. Stéphane Derenoncourt is the consultant."
