The Wine Advocate

"The 2016 La Tour Figeac displays plenty of fruit on the nose: mulberry, a touch of game and even a subtle hint of garrigues! It felt a little incongruous at first but I actually grew to like it more and more as it opened. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly "furry" tannin on the entry. There is good weight in the mouth, structured with a touch of bitter cherry towards the finish, although I appreciate the tension towards the finish, the edginess that comes through. It just needs more finesse and detail to merit a higher evaluation."

Decanter Magazine

"Bright, deeply felt blackberry fruits with the power of a clay-based St-Émilion (they have sand and gravel here also) planted to 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet franc. It conveys a sense of fun, with ripe fruits that ripple with integrity. It could just pick itself up and lift off. Aged in 50% new oak. Stephane Derenoncourt consults."

Jeff Leve

"Silky soft and polished, this wine is medium bodied and elegantly styled with supple textures. The finish shows ripe, dark red pit fruits, earth, cocoa and thyme."

"Barrel Sample. Big and bold, this wine, produced from a biodynamic estate, is packed with dark tannins and intense fruit. It is solid and fruity, clearly built for the long haul."

Wine Spectator

"This has a solid core of plum and blackberry fruit carried by lightly dusty cedar, vanilla and loam notes. Just a touch austere through the finish.—J.M."

VINOUS

"The 2016 La Tour Figeac is a supple, inviting Saint-Émilion that should drink well upon release. Red-toned fruit and floral overtones add to the wine's delicate, sensual personality. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Christine Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu consult."

Antonio Galloni 87-90 Punkte (Apr. 2017)

"The 2016 La Tour Figeac offers good fruit intensity and depth. Readers should plan on giving it a few years in bottle, as the tannins are a bit coarse today. Red cherry, plum, espresso and floral notes add complexity throughout. Even so, the tannins retain a toughness that is not likely to ever fully disappear."

Antonio Galloni 89 Punkte (Jan. 2019)

"The 2016 La Tour Figeac has a well-defined bouquet, a little more exotic in style than its peers, but attractive, offering dark cherries, boysenberry jam and a touch of spice. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe black cherry fruit, black pepper and a touch of tar. I like the grip on the persistent finish and the pepperiness lingering on the aftertaste."
