Château Croix de Labrie 2024

Bewertungen:

The Wine Advocate

"Less oaky than usual, the 2024 Croix de Labrie offers up aromas of cassis, spices, smoke and fresh licorice. Moderately weighted and supple, it's firm and compact, framed by brittle tannins and concluding with an oaky, short finish."

Decanter Magazine

"Soft and silky, this is fun and fresh, so pure and crystalline with focussed red strawberry and raspberry fruit that has both a crunch and salty edge. High acidity gives the vibrancy but this also has a feeling of energy and tension. A great limestone effect in the glass with some enjoyable austerity. Straight and forward this runs in one line with a dollop of sweetness on the mid palate too - a clear sign of ripeness. Lovely and sapid on the finish, totally moreish. Organic and biodynamic. No chaptalisation. Ageing 80% barrels 225l, (70% new, 30% one wine), 20% large casks foudre and 500l Demi muids. 3.38pH. Owners Axelle and Pierre Courdurié."

"Bright, juicy, and creamy on the medium-bodied palate, the wine is loaded with freshness, licorice, sweet, red cherries, and plums with a marine-influenced, salty note in the finish. The wine is produced and bottled with extremely low levels of sulfur. You can enjoy this young, or age it for more complexity, The wine blends 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. This is only the second vintage featuring this much Cabernet in the blend. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2027-2044."

"Very good depth. Perfumed aromas of berries, flowers, sweet blueberries, grapefruit and minerals. Very pretty, with reactive, fine-grained, chalky tannins. The texture and freshness are incredible, with lots of vibration. Medium-bodied with energy and juiciness. Quite long. 80% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 10% cabernet franc."

Jeb Dunnuck

"Cassis, graphite, beautiful minerality, and liquid violets emerge from the vivid purple-hued 2024 Château Croix De Labrie. Medium to full-bodied, it has a pure, seamless mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. Another undeniable success here and a beautiful effort."

VINOUS

"The 2023 Croix de Labrie is a dense, potent wine. A rush of blackberry jam, spice, lavender, chocolate and plums races across the palate. Hints of new leather and dried flowers appear later. This full-throttle, dense Saint-Émilion is dialed up to the maximum. The opulent style works well here. Tasted two times."

Antonioi Galloni 91-93 Punkte

"The 2023 Croix de Labrie has a refined and delineated bouquet of expressive black fruit laced with iris flower and violet. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, almost sensual opening. There is a slight savory touch here, but it’s elegant and refined on the finish. The 2023 is probably earlier-drinking than other vintages, but it’s nonetheless well-crafted and may well gain matière during barrel-maturation."

Falstaff

"Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Nuancen von reifen Pflaumen, ein Hauch von Feigen, zartes Nougat, kandierte Orangenzesten sind unterlegt. Saftig, Extraktsüße, reife Brombeeren, frisch strukturiert, etwas fordernde Tannine, braucht noch seine Zeit."

Jane Anson

"The overall structure shows estate signature, concentrated but skilful and it works, showing a ton of fragrant dark spices, cumin, rosemary, sage, blueberry and raspberry fruits, vertical left through the palate that only happens in the really successful wine. 80% in barrels, 70% new oak for ageing. Good silver."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW

"Deep garnet-purple colored. Needs a lot of swirling and coaxing to unlock scents of crushed blackberries, mulberries, and tar, leading to hints of black pepper, wild sage, and damp soil. The light to medium-bodied palate is elegant and plush with a lively line and satisfying savory layers on the finish."

Colin Hay

"La Croix de Labrie (Saint Émilion; 85% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Sauvignon; 5% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 27 hl/ha, seemingly low primarily because of the average age of the vines at 60 years or so; pH 3.41; 14.2% alcohol; tasted twice, the second time at the property). This sings in harmony with the wonderful cool limestone of this part of the plateau. A little closed at first when tasted the first time, but much more open the second. Even when closed we learn much from the evolution of the wine as it slowly unfurls like a fern frond. Glorious aromatically, with lovely and very distinctive subtle but intense violet, pink rose and iris notes, a little graphite and black cherry. We are in the parfumier’s laboratory. Wild blueberries, damson skin and a little blackcurrant. Griotte cherry, blood orange (from the old vine Cabernet Sauvignon) with aeration (and this is a wine that needs time to open). This is beautifully ripe, beautifully balanced and with the most gracious of tannins. Incredibly layered. Tasted alongside quite a representative sample of mid to upper tier Saint Émilion grands crus and grands crus classés this really shines for the quality of the tannins, the crystalline purity of the mid-palate and the aromatic charm and singularity of the fruit and floral signature. Truly excellent and essentially juicy. So sapid and that reinforces the sense of linearity on the finish."
