"The 2015 Maillet is deep in color. The nose offers macerated dark cherries intermingling with vanilla and blueberries that is powerful, if missing the delineation of some of the top Pomerol crus. The palate is full-bodied with grainy tannin. There is a lot of extraction here, a little coarse in texture with dense black cherries and mulberry on the finish. Not a bad Pomerol by any means, although it does miss some sophistication and breeding."

"A new wine from Pomerol! Chateau Maillet, along Hubert de Bouard as consultant, has created a wine with winning character. On the palate, this wine is all about its juicy, fresh, plum liqueur, black raspberry, floral and truffle personality. The finish is like sinking into a fine feathered, hotel boudoir, quite silky and long with a line of dark chocolate on your pillow. There is no sensation of heat from the 14.5% alcohol level. The wine was produced from a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc."

"Rouge grenat dense aux reflets violets. Bouquet élégant et de bonne intensité. Notes de fruits noirs, myrtilles, griotte et un peu de cassis. Agréable touche de fraîcheur avec de la menthe. Attaque fruitée, dense et rafraichissante. Le corps a du gras et une belle structure acide, en symbiose avec les tannins. Ces derniers sont fins, soyeux, et se révèlent en fin de bouche. Finale persistante. Un vin et un domaine à suivre avec attention."
