"Belle couleur noire, aux reflets pourpres. Nez intense, fin et appétent. Nuances pures de fruits mûrs, de bois de pin comme à Pessac Léognan, avec une touche de réglisse. Minutieux en entrée de bouche, fondant au milieu, avec beaucoup de goût et une trame tannique subtile, le vin s’achève caressant et long sur des tannins fins. C’est très bon. Pour la troisième année consécutive, ce vin obtient ce niveau de note en primeur. Un grand succès du cru. Assemblage : 80 % merlot, 20 % cabernet franc. Degré d’alcool : 14°5. pH : 3,8. Rendement : 35 hl/ha. Production : 50 % de la récolte."

"One of my favorite estates in Pomerol is Château Le Gay, and their 2020 looks to be a gem, offering a ripe, forward, medium to full-bodied style as well as classic cassis and assorted darker fruits intermixed with white flowers, tobacco, and violets. It has plenty of background oak, sweet tannins, beautiful overall balance, and outstanding length on the finish. I don’t think it has the density of the 2016, but it still shows plenty of concentration as well as the fresh, elegant, incredibly pure style of the vintage."

"The 2020 Le Gay needs a little coaxing from the glass, but responds with blackberry, bilberry, pressed iris and subtle brine scents that gain intensity with aeration; the oak is very well integrated. The medium-bodied palate features fine, grainy tannins and beautiful, very pure black fruit tinged with licorice. Superb delineation toward the finish, which fans out with style. This is a wonderful Pomerol, Le Gay fulfilling its potential as one of Pomerol’s dark horses. Superb."

"Welche Eleganz und Komplexität im Bouquet von Le Gay! Angenehme und einladende Noten von Kirschen, schwarzen Beeren und Minze. Ein Hauch von Lakritze. Subtile Anklänge von Reifung vervollständigen die olfaktorische Komplexität. Am Gaumen zeigt der Wein viel Gelassenheit und Charme. Er hat eine verführerische Seite und vor allem sehr feine Tannine, die sich langsam offenbaren und eine präzise, gut definierte Kraft aufweisen. Die Säurestruktur ist ein ausgleichender Faktor und die Endharmonie ist perfekt. Ein wunderschöner, überzeugender Wein, der die Größe von Pomerol im Jahr 2020 unterstreicht."

"Etwas offen im Duft. Unterholz, Tannenharz, reife Kirsche. Im Mund ölig grundiert, darauf eine körnige, trockene Tanninfracht, zurückhaltend in der Säure, aber gut in der Saftigkeit, straff zupackend im Finale, mit mittlerer Fruchtbegleitung. Ein wuch- tiger Wein mit Perspektive."
