"The Château La Pointe 2014 is a blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc (due to the uprooting of Merlot in the vineyard). Eric Monneret told me that during the September rain the skins did not break, but prudently picked any suspect bunches earlier in September for the second wine. It has an elegant bouquet, quite refined and pure with dark cherries and violet scents, classier than the vintages of old. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite feminine and elegant on the entry. It feels linear in the mouth, refusing to fan out on the finish that leaves you wanting just a little more after the attractive aromatics. Not a bad La Pointe, but not quite top tier this year."
