The Wine Advocate

„Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Gazin charges out of the gate with bold boysenberries, baked plums and Christmas cake notes plus hints of unsmoked cigars and bouquet garni. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with baked black fruit, framed by firm, ambitious tannins, finishing long and mineral tinged.“

Lisa Perrotti Brown MW 96 Punkte (März 2020)

„Wow! This wine exceeded my enthusiastic barrel tasting notes. A big, back-strapping blockbuster from Gazin, in which the oak seems to be pushed into the background (thankfully), the wine offers up notes of caramelized black cherry and black currant fruit interwoven with mocha, white chocolate, subtle toast and hints of coffee beans and tobacco leaf. The exceptional aromatics are easily followed up by a full-bodied, powerful, broodingly backward, rich, intense wine with multiple dimensions, layers of fruit, and a sensational finish of close to a minute. This is one of the all-time great efforts from Gazin. It should be forgotten for 6-10 years and drunk over the following 30 to 40.“

Robert Parker 96 Punkte (Feb. 2013)

"Another remarkable effort from Gazin, the big, powerful, dense 2010 boasts an opaque purple color along with loads of black currant and kirsch-like fruit intermixed with licorice, caramel, mocha and toasty oak. This seriously endowed, broodingly backward cuvee requires 6-8 years of cellaring and should keep for three decades or more."

Robert Parker 93-95 Punkte (Mai 2011)

"Tasted at the Syndicat de Pomerol. Gazin has been on form in recent vintages. The 2010 has a very pure bouquet with superb lift and purity: black cherries and raspberry, crushed stone underneath. The palate is full-bodied with grippy tannins, very good acidity, compact and masculine, huge weight on the finish, great length and ambition. Superb."

Decanter Magazine

"The kind of vintage that was always going to suit Gazin, and for certain there is plenty of the estate signature here - dark fruits, bitter chocolate, firm tannins and architectural angles. Excellent persistency, this stretches out through the palate. Impressive rather than loveable perhaps, but there is depth and concentration and it is just about starting to open up, underscoring as ever that Gazin is among the last of the Pomerols to reach its drinking window."

Jancis Robinson

"Very dark and lustrous with some ruby at the rim. High toned and aromatic. Very comfortable and unforced. Highly successful with real vivacity. Dry finish. Was this on some clay? Well done! Quite juicy."

Jeff Leve

„With a good depth of color, the wine needs an hour or so of decanting before it releases all its sensuous, juicy, plums, truffle, earth and spice box characteristics. Full bodied, rich and concentrated, there is energy and complexity here. Even though this can be enjoyed now, another 4-5 years will add so much more to its complexity and character.“

„Licorice, smoke, earth, plums and cherries are easy to find. Structured to age, deep and refined, from a blend of 86% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, this is one of my favorite vintages from this producer yet.“

„Black raspberry, floral and bitter chocolate aromas pair well with the soft, rich, long plum, licorice and chocolate finish.“

"Beau rouge sombre. Bonne longueur savoureuse."

"A subtle red with ultra-fine tannins that accentuate a palate of chocolate, berries and nuts. Full and very round. It's refined and beautiful. Hard not to drink now but wait at least five years. Top wine from Gazin."

René Gabriel's BDX Total

"Extrem dunkles Purpur.

VINOUS

"Ruby purple. The floral nose of violet, white pepper, flint and truffle is very Pomerol. Then a little chunky and warm in the mouth, with fruit-driven flavors of blackcurrant and black cherry complicated by underbrush and cocoa. Offers good intensity and the smooth, sophisticated finish displays only moderate length."

Falstaff

"Sehr dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe; feine florale Nuancen, eingelegte Kirschen, zart nach Dörrzwetschgen, einladende Nase; saftig, hoch elegant, extraktsüß, finessenreicher Strukturbogen, präsente Tannine, süße Beerenfrucht im Finish, bleibt sehr gut haften, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial, mineralischer Nachhall."
