Chateau Pichon Comtesse 2013

Verkostungsnotiz:

"Striking expression of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, unique for this château, pure and long: a 'civilised' Pauillac. Drink: 2018-2030" 17,25/20 Punkte Quelle: www.decanter.com

Jeff Leve

"With smoke, spicy cassis and pepper in the nose, the wine feels soft, delicate and forward. Its lack of weight renders it light/medium bodied, while the open, fresh finish showcases black raspberry, herbs and black olive. Drinkable on release, this vintage was produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon for the first time in the estate’s history. The wine reached 12.8% alcohol from 13 hectoliters per hectare, and the Grand Vin represents 33% of the crop. Another record was set with 2013 Pichon Lalande, this is the smallest level of production in the estate’s history."

"91–93Pts. Barrel Sample. This wine has notes of sweet black currants livened by moderate acidity. It is soft and fresh, giving a balanced weight without too much tannic power."

VINOUS

"The headline is that the Grand Vin is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon since the Merlot was affected by coulure and the quality and quantity was such that it was deemed unworthy of the name. As expected, it has a classic Cabernet nose with that graphite character coming through very strongly. The palate is medium-bodied with quite tough tannins. There is a good level of acidity although it must be said...I miss that Merlot towards the finish to smooth out the texture, soften the hard edges of what is some very decent Cabernet. Its uncompromising Cabernet character has its charms but that severity on the finish takes some getting used to. Tasted April 2014."

Yves Beck

"Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand, reife Herzkirschen, dezente Kräuterwürze, ein Hauch von Nougat, attraktives Bukett. Saftig, frische Kirschenfrucht, dezente Fruchtsüße, etwas Vanille, gut eingebundene Tannine, mittlere Länge, leichtfüßig und mineralisch, hat Reifepotenzial."

Falstaff

"Nose here damson, extraction a touch over entusiastic, drying potential. The palate though fattens up, and the knots could very clearly work themselves out over ageing. This was an unusual vintage at this estate, as they used 100% cabernet sauvignon fruit for the first time. It has worked out well though, there is some lovely texture to the fruit, good weight in the mouth. Not hugely typical of the vintage, they have been able to push things a little further than many. Highly recommended. Drink 2020-2032."
