"While many 1996 Medocs had fleshed out, with the tannin becoming sweeter, and the ripe Cabernet Sauvignon fruit even more impressive, this offering was an exception to the rule. The tannin seemed more noticeable, and the wine appeared to have a hole in the middle as well as a dry, severe finish. The color is a healthy dark purple, and the wine reveals sweet blackberry, chocolate, and vanilla-tinged fruit on the attack, but it then falls off in the back of the mouth. It will be interesting to retaste this 1996 after bottling. "
